Biography

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldız was born in Kuşadası in 1972. In 1997, he received his bachelor's degree in Educational Administration and Planning from the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Ankara University. He received his master's degree from the same faculty in 2002 and his doctorate degree in 2006 in the field of Public Education/Adult Education.

He was at Lancaster University (England) in the 2009-2010 academic year for his post-doctoral research. He worked as a visiting professor at Applied Sciences Upper Austria University in 2017-2018.

He became assistant professor in 2010, associate professor in 2012, and professor in 2023. He is still working at Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences, Lifelong Learning and Adult Education Department.

His main fields of study are basic education of adults, the history of public education, adult literacy, local governments and education, the transformation of the teaching profession, education in rural areas, critical education thoughts and practices and secular education.

He took part in many projects on rural development and adult literacy. He is also the Deputy Director of Ankara University Development Studies Center.
